How is PP Nonwoven Fabric made?
Polypropylene non-woven fabric creation process is achieved with the meltdown process. These involves these steps;
Step 1: Extrusion – Melting of PP polymer pellets is initiated. Then extrusion is done through spinnerets. Spinnerets are devices that come with small holes.
Step 2: Forming Fiber – Molten polymers are pressured through spinnerets. When this is done thousands of small and continuous fibers are formed. Then, cooling and solidifying these fibers is needed as they go through streams of cold air.
Step 3: Forming Web – Fibers formed are obtained on screens or conveyor belts and this forms non woven webs. The web is compressed to ensure its density is increased.
Step 4: Bonding – The web formed is bonded together with different methods like chemicals, pressure or heating. This brings out a stable and strong fabric.
Step 5: Finish – After bonding, it can be treated with some finishing methods. This is to make better its look or performance like application of lamination or coating with some other materials.
